Guns are used defensively by U.S. private citizens from 1.5 to 3.4 million times a year, at least three times more frequently than guns are used to commmit crimes (Ref: John R. Lott Jr., AEI)
Armed citizens prevent/stop crime far in excess of police agencies.
A gun in your hands is certainly faster and more effective than a 911 phone call
Hunting remains one of the safest sports, according to the National Safety Council and other sources:
- Accidental hunting fatalities due to firearms are at their lowest levels in history
- In the past 10 years, the rate has declined by 50%
- DFG reports 10 to 15 hunting-related accidents each year, including fatal and non-fatal in California's approximately 300,000 hunters
- The National Safety Council shows out of every 100,000 football players, 2369 were injured or killed in 2001 vs only 6 out of 100,000 hunters in all North America according to the International Hunter Education Association.
- Swimming (319), golf (173), soccer (1262) and basketball (2326) all resulted in many more trips to emergency rooms than hunting
Just what justification do the anti-gun, anti-hunting people/organizations use to promote the disarming of America?
Obviously, there is no justification. Surely most of these misguided individuals are being used, unknowingly perhaps, to fulfill the agenda of the UN and a one- world- government as was even proposed by former president Bush, the elder.
