NOT EVERYBODY'S CUT OUT TO BE A GUN OWNER

Mothers Against Drunk Drivers never attacked alcohol, but went after the court system for caving in to trial attorneys who were prostituting the drunk driving laws.

In 1998, 900 youngsters were killed in gun-related deaths, but nobody mentions that more than 20,000 youths were killed in incidents directly attributed to alcohol.

About education, the National Rifle Association has excellent educational films. God forbid we allow qualified people to go into schools and try to educate young people and their parents about gun safety, but my 12-year old grandson is taught about sexually transmitted diseases and other subjects which I find objectionable.

Let's face it, folks, anti-gun people find it very fashionable to attack the firearm; it's the politically correct thing to do. There is an abundance of laws on the books, but like the laws pertaining to drunk driving, they are not being addressed by prosecutors and courts.

Buford Furrow brought the guns he used in the North Valley Jewish Community Center shooting spree from out of state and committed his crimes in a state which is the most regulated in this country.

Unfortunately, we can't regulate hatred.

As a gun store owner, I have exercised my right to refuse sales to people whom I find in one way or another objectionable, determined during conversations while the customer was trying to make a purchase. And when I attempted to notify the California Department of Justice of my concerns about a person's mental stability, I was told that I was not an expert in the field of mental health.

Let me reiterate, guns are not for all people. There are people who have no criminal record whatsoever, but because of their lack of maturity, they shouldn't be allowed in the same block as a gun store.

But that's our right, isn't it?
